
This guide explains how you would register your mobile phone, download the Microsoft MFA APP to log on externally going forward. You will still log on with your usual MIT staff username and password, but in addition to that, you will be asked to confirm login via the Microsoft MFA App. It is not a replacement of the conventional login page, but rather, an additional layer that helps make it harder for someone to compromise your account. Once you are happy with the details entered you can safely close the window.įrom now on, whenever you have a new sign in or add your Office 365 work or school account to an app, you'll open the Authenticator app on your phone and tap Approve.Two-factor authentication (2FA) or Multifactor Authentication (MFA), is an additional authentication method available for accessing all MIT services externally. Use your phone to scan the QR square that is displayed on your computer screen. You choose ‘Work or school account’ if presented with the option and that you do not select any other account type. Note: On firstrun, you may be asked if you would like to add an account. Tap + > Work or school account or choose ‘ Add account’ from the options menu.
